Re: API Request

More to the point, and our developers can clarify, there's a huge issue with scrapers not batching queries, instead opting for 1:1 pulls that quickly hit the API limit. Then you should re-examine your API documentation, because it's obviously not as clear as you think. Meanwhile, if skyscraper and ...

And you still read only half of original phrase.
No, I read the whole thing. What you wrote was simply unclear and non-sensical. I think you overestimate your own English fluency.

Regardless, I finally understand what you were trying to say, thanks to Leo_Pride's answer.

Re: API Request

Mind the whole sentence - scrapers shouldn't be targeting an app that uses the Api directly like that. I did "mind the whole sentence". It still doesn't make any sense. "Scrapers shouldn't be targeting an app" doesn't make any sense. A scraper is an app. How can an app target an...

Re: API Request

Is there some way for me to download the entire dB (including images, such as screenshots and box art) at one shot, and then use it to populate skyscraper's local cache? I'm willing to do it myself, if there's a way.

Re: API Request

Okay, that's fine and dandy... but it doesn't help end-users like me. I can't force a scraper developer to add features you say I need.

Re: API Request

The scrapers shouldn't be targeting an app that uses the Api directly like that. What do you mean by "targeting an app"? The scrapers I am using (EmulationStation's built-in scraper, and the standalone "skyscraper" command-line scraper) don't "target an app"; they are ...

Re: API Request

Then you all really need to increase the non-developer limits. The current limits are nowhere near adequate for users. If bandwidth or server capacity is an issue, then please provide a way for users to sign up for a paid subscription access or something. Thanks.

API Request

I'm an individual user/collector with many thousands of games I need to scrape as I build out my RetroPie system. I keep running up against the anonymous/regular user throttling and caps while trying to scrape my large personal collection, so I need an API key. This will only be for my personal use,...

Re: New game added not matching found

Any idea if/when RetroPie will release a new version that uses the new API? Because its built-in scraper uses http://legacy.thegamesdb.net, so it's not able to pick up any of the games I've newly added via https://thegamesdb.net. Is there any plan in the works to create an automatic scheduled backpo...
