Questions about API usage

Hi everyone!

I'm a professional software dev developing addons for the game manager Playnite in my spare time. I've developed a metadata addon for Wikipedia already and would love to do one for TheGamesDb as well. I'm not sure, if that's really possible using the API, though. I couldn't find any information on rate limits, if and how a public api key would work for an addon, that possibly will have many users requesting mass data etc. Is there a documentation for that? Or should I simply request an API key and try it out?
