Rules on Adding console / emulator artwork

Hi, I'm on Steam Deck with EmuDeck and one of the things I've been chatting with the devs about is adding emulator access direclty to EmulationStation-DE. It's super helpful and fixes a lot of streaming problems on my end but one of the issues is that the scraper fills the emualtor entries with random loosely name-related games because there's no art for emulators or systems available.
I don't want to break any rules by adding them and I can't find any precedent for it either. I know that this is not really what the site is for. So what's the official stance? I also added artwork for a specific mod for super smash bros. Brawl before I thought about this so it'd be nice to know the stance on that too.
